After spending the better part of a decade locked in a law library, I decided to become a freelance writer and full-time volunteer. I grew up in a tiny Eastern Kentucky coal town and have called Lexington, Louisville, and Nashville “home.” I am a frequent contributor to Lexington’s Ace Weekly magazine, and specialize in essays about Southern life. I am a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky’s basketball and football teams and contribute to The Kentucky Girls, a blog which describes Kentucky sports from the female fanatic’s perspective. I am also the founder and editor of Her Kentucky, a collective of Bluegrass State women bloggers. My fiancé and I have two black labs, Max and Sophie.
